An introduction to a weekend of prayer in November.
What is 24/7 Prayer?
From 9am on Saturday the 14 November until 9am Sunday 15 Novembe the Chatham Salvation Army building will be dedicated to prayer. Paul urged the Thessalonians to ‘pray constantly’ This week end gives you opportunity to go further and deeper into prayer together with your church family.
What is different?
We will be returning to our building after several weeks worshipping elsewhere. Now we can re-dedicate our building to God and for its use in the community. The various areas will be set out in such a way to take you on a journey into the heart of God then outwards as God reveals his purpose for you and empowers you to step out. There will be many resources to aid you in meditative prayer, contempla tive prayer and intercessary prayer.
Why focus on Prayer?
In Jeremiah 29:11 we read of God saying to the prophet “I know the plans I have for you… They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hopeâ€. God wants to reveal his purpose for each one of our lives – and where better to be than in the place God wants us to be, doing the work he calls us to do. We want to bathe our whole corps in prayer this weekend.
Bathe our corps, the people, buildings and all the activities in prayer. Bring them to God – to support, to bless, to strengthen, to empower and to grow. Pray for the world wide work of The Salvation Army and other Christian charities. Immerse ourselves in the almighty power of God’s love. To explore his plans for us. To show our reliance on his grace. To trust him completely for the future.
Our corps vision is to see the river of God’s grace flow out from our building in Church Street, Chatham to bring life to the community all around us. We want to see the river flowing freely and it needs to be started and supported by prayer.
Anyone wishing to join us in prayer is more than welcome. See maps below to find us.
