We have received the sad news of the Promotion to Glory of former Chatham Bandmaster Bill Andrews on 6 September.

Bill was Bandmaster here from 1947 to 1965 and is largely credited with resuscitating the corps band after the war years. He had been ill for a couple of months. Bill was 94 years of age and always looked back on his time at Chatham with great fondness. We will publish information about the funeral when we receive it.

The funeral will take place at Exeter Crematorium on Monday 19th September at 11.30 am followed by a buffet lunch (all who attend are invited) at the Salvation Army Hall Friars Walk Exeter at 1.00 pm – more information can be obtained from from Ivan at ivan.andrews@sky.com
