Chatham Citadel Band were delighted to be joined by bandsmen from local Corps’ for a special open band practice. This event was originally planned as part of a celebration to recognise the Band’s 140 year anniversary in 2021 but had to be deferred due to the pandemic.
The evening was led by Paul Sharman, Assistant Director of Music and Creative Arts, and it was a blessing to work with him and be able to share fellowship with friends from Maidstone, Gillingham and Sittingbourne Corps who joined with Chatham for a great evening of inspiring, God honouring, music-making.
Under Paul’s expert leadership, the group played a variety of music – old & new -including some of Paul’s own, as yet unpublished, music which encouraged all present to look ‘To the hills’ and ’Turn your eyes upon Jesus’. There was a good mix of lively and devotional numbers, and the evening ended with the positive assurance given in the Army classic ‘Kingdom Triumphant’.
A period of devotions was led by Band Sec Martin Davis who spoke to the group about hope and based his thoughts around Psalm 139.
