The Ladies Fellowship was formed to meet the needs of ladies who were at work during the day and therefore not able to attend our Wednesday afternoon ladies meeting. It comes under the Adult and Family Ministries Department of The Salvation Army and has a four-fold programme, which includes Fellowship, Worship, Education and Service.
The Ladies Fellowship at Chatham commenced in 1978 under the leadership of Maureen Smith until February 1987. The Group was suspended in April 1991 but recommenced in November 1993. Pat Phillips was commissioned as Leader in February 1996 and retired from that position in 2007. The Group was later managed by Jane Haystead until her & David’s move to Westgate
The Group is currently managed by Sharon Smith as of January 2018
Currently there are about 25 members, although the average attendance is 18. The group meets on the second Monday of the month excluding August and December and has talks on many varied subjects by interesting speakers. the year usually begins with a Quiz night.
This is a friendly welcoming group and at every meeting there is opportunity to chat over a cup of tea (and a biscuit) so that nobody feels isolated. It is good to use people s skills and if you can make a cup of tea your name will be put on the rota.
Meetings always conclude with a short Bible reading and a prayer, led by various members of the fellowship. Please feel free to come along and join in, even if you are only free now and again. You don t have to be a Christian or belong to any church.
