Psalm 119 The Message (MSG)

119 1-8 You’re blessed when you stay on course,
walking steadily on the road revealed by God.
You’re blessed when you follow his directions,
doing your best to find him.
That’s right—you don’t go off on your own;
you walk straight along the road he set.
You, God, prescribed the right way to live;
now you expect us to live it.
Oh, that my steps might be steady,
keeping to the course you set;
Then I’d never have any regrets
in comparing my life with your counsel.
I thank you for speaking straight from your heart;
I learn the pattern of your righteous ways.
I’m going to do what you tell me to do;
don’t ever walk off and leave me.

Both meetings will be led by  Major Ian F Payne

Come and join us , it would be great to see you

17th March 2019

Welcome to Chatham Salvation Army, a Christian fellowship where we are attempting to bring ‘Christ to people and people to Christ’.

Today is the final Self Denial film looking at The Salvation Army work in Jamaica – ‘See the Difference we can make’ – I hope that you have found them informative and challenging as you prepare your monetary gift for this work. You will have the opportunity to give next Sunday morning as part of our Morning Worship.

This morning we will be looking at ‘See the difference you can make  – When you hit the Target’ focusing our thoughts around Psalm 119 verse 137 ‘You are right and you do right, God; your decisions are right on target. You rightly instruct us in how to live ever faithful to you’.

Hitting the target God has set means that we have to have a relationship and engagement regularly with Him to enable this to happen –  we will explore this for each of us.

Tonight at 4pm will be ‘Café Church’ entitled ‘Resting in Him’ – an evening of music, discussion and contemplation –  over a drink and nibbles. This will take place in the Bradbury Room.

Please pray for the launch of the Oasis Fellowship commencing this Wednesday – even come and enjoy an afternoon tea together.

May God bless us all as we worship today in Spirit and in Truth.

God Bless Chatham Citadel Corps today.

Major Ian

RECORDED MEETINGS

Every week the meetings are recorded and sent out to those who are unable to attend – I am grateful to Lisa Davis who carries out this important ministry.  I thought to highlight this fact as there may be others who you know and who could benefit from this service. Please speak with Lisa.

London Landmarks Half Marathon

Adam Collins writes…… Hi Everyone, I’m running in the London Landmarks Half Marathon 24th March in memory of my Dad who I lost in 2016 to Parkinson’s. They are my chosen charity.  As of yet, there is no cure for this horrendous disease but with more research we are stepping closer to one.  If you could donate anything to this worthy charity that would be amazing and help Parkinson’s UK find a cure.

Who is Adam I hear you ask? He sits downstairs with his wife Jenny and Baby George. He will take sponsorship in an envelope which can be passed to the CO.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Please pray this prayer:

Father God, I pray for my church today, that you will fill each of us with your joy and peace, and that, in our worship, our fellowship and mission, we will overflow with hope, by the power of your Holy Spirit, in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

PARKING OUTSIDE THE HALL

Can I respectfully ask those with Blue Badges to not park immediately outside the front doors of the Hall on the roadside. Please drop off your passengers then park on the cobbles behind the hall displaying your blue badge. Why? I hear you say. The cars do block our entrance and become a barrier. There will be other displays in this area to encourage people to come in for worship.

Easter Week Seder Meal

Thursday 18th April we will be celebrating a Seder Passover Meal, sharing not just the meal and symbolism of each part but surround it with worship and music that befits the occasion – The numbers will be limited – Please give your name to Major Ian – there will be a collection on the evening to help cover costs.

WEEKLY ‘FOCUS’ PRAYER SHEET

Running up to Easter (Lent 40 days) we will be producing a ‘Focus’ leaflet for daily prayer and reading – it will not be onerous.  It will have a reading each day and a heading to pray for.  This week (2) our focus will be on Our Nation.

1 John 5:14-15  Version (NIV)

14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him’

Let’s get asking, certainly for the UK!

LAUNCH OF THE OASIS FELLOWSHIP

I am delighted to announce that we will be launching an ‘Oasis Fellowship’ (formerly CAMEO) this Wednesday 20th March 2019 1.30pm under the leadership of Don and Trish Hall – who, after one Sunday morning’s meeting, felt led by God to offer their services.  The Launch will be in the form of an Afternoon Tea and will not be age or gender restrictive.  I am also delighted to announce that the Director of Family Ministries (THQ) will be attending this event. It is a new chapter in this area of work and service to our community. I encourage you all to invite people in your community to come and enjoy fellowship on a weekly basis with a wide and varied programme to suit all tastes and ages.  We will be also looking at a lunch from 12:30 prior to the meeting for people to share fellowship together in this way too.

Please pray for Don and Trish and the Oasis Fellowship that it will be used by God to be Church for many people.

Tuesday evening will be a Meditation led by our sections entitled ‘Emotions of Easter’.

Wednesday will be looking at what Easter is all about, what it meant on the day and now.

Thursday our Seder meal is mentioned elsewhere in this news sheet.

Good Friday will be led by our Divisional Leaders, Majors Mark and Linda Herbert. Followed by joining the Churches in Chatham in a March of witness and open-air led and organized by Major Ian. A great opportunity to take the Cross and the Story into the Community where we are serving.

Please pray for this particular week, that all the preparation and presentations will challenge and bring people into a new relationship with Jesus Christ – May this Easter time be a celebration in many lives that realise ‘The Truth can set you FREE’

Sunday we will have our Divisional Leaders with us for the Day, with an Easter Songs of Praise at 4pm.
