"Bringing Christ to People and People to Christ"

Heralds of Grace

What could be better than a beautiful sunny day in London? Such a day greeted the Cadets of the Heralds of Grace (2013-2015) session as they gathered at Westminster Central Hall for their commissioning.

Standing in the shadow of Westminster Abbey, which has seen so many historic events over the centuries, WCH is a treasured memory for the many who have received their commissions as Salvation Army Officers on its platform. This experience is now etched into the life of Lieutenant Trish Hall, a former member of the Chatham Salvation Army Corps (church) who has been appointed to the Histon Corps with Willingham Corps, near Cambridge. Trish will have her husband, Territorial Envoy Don Hall, at her side as she takes up her appointment.

In the time honoured manner the commissioning ceremony was carried out during the afternoon session by Territorial Commander Commissioner Clive Adams.

The warm afternoon sunshine not only allowed the new Lieutenants, together with family, friends and other supporters, to relax on the grass opposite the Abbey but gave us the opportunity to take a ‘team’ photograph with most of the Chatham supporting contingent.

The evening session was described as ‘party time’ and featured some very enthusiastic singing from the congregation and cadets alike.

The International Staff Band and the College Worship Band each contributed in their own special way and added much to the enjoyment of the occasion. Once again the call to discipleship and officership received a good response as many knelt in commitment at the mercy seat.

The final ‘Praise Party’ brought a memorable day to a close.

We ask readers to join  us in prayer for the new Lieutenants as they take up their appointments. Life will not always be easy and they will need the strength and comfort of the Holy Spirit to help them. We ask God’s blessing on them all.
